Privacy inquiries: privacy@adubuildermatch.com
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: directly from you, automatically through your use of the website, and from publicly available sources.
1.1 Information You Provide — Homeowners
When you submit a project request, lead form, or contact form, we may collect:
- Full name, email address, and phone number
- Property location (ZIP code, city, county, state)
- ADU type of interest, project goal, and project notes
- Budget range, desired timeline, and property ownership status
- Financing interest, source page, and source builder
- Consent records and timestamp
1.2 Information You Provide — Builders and Businesses
When a business claims, updates, or manages a listing, or expresses interest in receiving homeowner leads, we may collect business name and contact details, service areas and specialties, ADU types offered, contractor license number, insurance or bonding information, and listing claim requests and verification documentation.
1.3 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website, we may automatically collect IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring URLs, UTM parameters, approximate geographic location, and analytics events. We may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies for basic site functionality, analytics, spam prevention, and referral tracking. We do not currently use session replay tools or behavioral advertising pixels.
1.4 Information from Public Sources
We may create or enrich business directory listings using publicly available information including business websites, public directories, Google Business Profiles, ratings data, and state contractor license databases. Listings created from public sources may not have been verified or approved by the business.
2. Notice at Collection
California law requires us to provide this notice at or before the time we collect your personal information.
If you submit a lead form or project request on ADU Builder Match, we collect your contact information and project details for the following purposes:
- To review and qualify your project request
- To send you a confirmation of your submission
- To contact you about your submission or related services
- To share your contact information and project details with selected ADU professionals so they may evaluate and contact you about your ADU project
The sharing of your information with ADU professionals for lead-matching purposes may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law. You have the right to opt out. See Section 6 (Your Privacy Rights) for details.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to operate and provide our services (display listings, review and qualify project submissions, match homeowners with ADU professionals), communicate with users (send confirmations and administrative notices, respond to requests), improve our platform (analyze traffic, monitor for fraud, conduct quality assurance), and comply with legal obligations (retain consent records, respond to legal requests, enforce our Terms).
4. How We Share Information
4.1 Sharing with ADU Professionals (Lead Delivery)
This is the most important disclosure in this Privacy Policy.
When you submit a project request, we may share your name, email, phone, property location, ADU type, project goal, budget, timeline, property ownership status, financing interest, and project notes with selected ADU professionals — including builders, contractors, architects, designers, permit consultants, and prefab companies — so those professionals can evaluate and respond to your project request.
Depending on how California law is interpreted and applied to our business model, sharing your information with ADU professionals in connection with compensated lead delivery may be characterized as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under the CCPA/CPRA. We disclose this practice openly and provide the right to opt out. See Section 6.
4.2 Service Providers
We may share information with third-party service providers including Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email delivery), Google Analytics or similar (analytics), and spam-prevention and security tools. We require service providers to use your information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf.
4.3 Business Transfers
If ADU Builder Match is involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar business event, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is transferred to a different entity subject to a materially different privacy policy.
4.4 Legal Obligations and Protection of Rights
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, enforce our Terms, detect or prevent fraud, or protect the rights, property, or safety of ADU Builder Match, our users, or the public.
4.5 What We Do Not Do
- Sell your personal information to data brokers or advertising networks
- Use your project submission data to serve you behavioral advertising
- Share your information with ADU professionals for purposes unrelated to your ADU project request
- Allow ADU professionals who receive leads to resell, redistribute, or use your information for unrelated marketing
5. Compensation and Sale or Sharing Disclosure
ADU Builder Match may receive compensation from ADU professionals for qualified project requests (leads), sponsored directory listings, featured placement, and other paid business services. Depending on applicable law, sharing your contact and project information with ADU professionals in connection with compensated lead delivery may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under the CCPA/CPRA. We disclose this practice transparently and provide California residents the right to opt out as described in Section 6.
6. Your Privacy Rights
6.1 Rights of California Residents
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the CCPA and CPRA:
- Right to Know: Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to Know Who Received Your Information: Request to know the specific ADU professionals with whom your project information was shared.
- Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information with ADU professionals for lead-matching purposes. Contact us at privacy@adubuildermatch.com or visit our Do Not Sell or Share page.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
6.2 How to Submit a Privacy Request
To exercise any of the rights above, email us at privacy@adubuildermatch.com with subject line "Privacy Request — [Your Name]." Include your full name, email address used when submitting your project request, and a description of the request. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days.
6.3 Withdrawing Consent
You may withdraw your consent to be contacted at any time by contacting us at privacy@adubuildermatch.com. Withdrawing consent does not undo actions already taken before your request was processed, including project information already shared with an ADU professional.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website may use functional cookies (necessary for site operation), analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics), security and spam-prevention tools (e.g., Cloudflare Turnstile), and referral tracking. We do not currently use advertising pixels, behavioral retargeting networks, cross-site tracking tools, or session replay software.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, maintain internal records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Lead submissions may be retained for business and compliance purposes. Consent records are retained to document homeowner authorization and may be kept for an extended period for legal protection.
9. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure database hosting. No method of data transmission over the internet is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us at privacy@adubuildermatch.com.
10. Children's Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we may have collected information from a child, please contact us at privacy@adubuildermatch.com.
